EDF-EFC joint capacity building seminar on Article 33 of the UN Convention (Brussels, 28 October 2009)

The European Disability Forum (EDF) and the European Consortium of Foundations on Human Rights and Disability (EFC) are organising a joint seminar on the National Implementing and Monitoring Bodies described in Article 33 of the UN Convention. This seminar will take place on 28 October 2009 at the premises of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels.

CRPD States Parties are obliged to set up focal points within the government structures to co-ordinate and to monitor the actual implementation of the Convention. In addition, disabled people and their representative organisations must be involved and fully participate in these bodies.

The seminar on CRPD National Implementing Bodies will aim at exploring the obligations derived from the CRPD regarding the functions and the shaping of these bodies, as well as to analyse how some EU members and EU Institutions envisage the fulfilment of these obligations.

Participation in the symposium is free of charge (no registration fee, coffee breaks and lunch will be provided). Please note that travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered.
