Israel: Disabled people demand minimum wage-level benefits

On October 25th, hundreds of disabled people took part in a demonstration opposite the Finance Ministry and Social Affairs Ministry offices in Jerusalem, demanding that their disability benefits be increased to the level of the minimum wage.

The proposal is that benefits be increased gradually over the course of five years until they are on par with the minimum wage. In addition, they are asking that benefits not only be dependent upon a person's earning power, but also on the level of impairment.
